HVAC Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB)
When some rooms are too cold and others too warm, the problem is often flow, not equipment. We measure, adjust and balance air and water flows so every room and every coil gets what the design intended.
What is HVAC testing, adjusting and balancing?
Testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) is the process of measuring the air and water flows in an HVAC system and adjusting dampers, valves and fan or pump settings until each outlet and coil gets its design flow. It is done at handover of a new system and whenever an existing system underperforms.
Design Flows, Measured and Proven
An HVAC system can have the right equipment and still perform badly if the flows are wrong. TAB finds where air or water is going, and puts it where it should be.
- Air balancing: supply, return and fresh air at every grille, diffuser and AHU.
- Water balancing: chilled water flow through chillers, pumps, AHUs and FCUs.
- Pressure and temperature readings across coils, pumps and fans.
- Fan and pump performance checks against design duty.
- Fault isolation: separating airflow, hydronic and controls problems.
- TAB reports for consultants, authorities and facilities teams.
Why MSTECK
- HVAC and MEP contractor and consultant since 2008
- ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified
- The same engineers design, install and maintain, so nothing is lost between teams
- Calibrated instruments and a written report you can keep
New Systems and Struggling Ones
New Installations
Balancing and reports at handover, as consultants and authorities require.
Uneven Cooling
Rooms that never reach set point while others are too cold.
After Renovations
Re-balancing after layout changes, new partitions or added equipment.
How a TAB Job Runs
- Review the design. We collect drawings and design flows for the system.
- Measure. Air and water flows, pressures and temperatures are recorded with calibrated instruments.
- Adjust. Dampers, balancing valves and fan or pump settings are set to design.
- Verify. We re-measure to confirm each outlet and coil is within tolerance.
- Report. You get a TAB report with readings, adjustments and any faults that need fixing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are some rooms colder than others?
Usually because air or water is not reaching each room in the right amount. Balancing fixes this without replacing equipment.
Do you provide TAB reports for handover?
Yes. Our reports record measured and design values for consultants, authorities and facilities teams.
Can TAB fix a system that was never balanced?
Often, yes. Many underperforming systems were never properly balanced at handover. Where TAB finds a design or equipment fault, we tell you.
Which areas do you cover?
We take on projects across the UAE, run from our office in Al Qusais Industrial Area 5, Dubai.
